The purpose of this guide is to empower parents to teach their own child how to swim. This guide is for children 2.5 years old years old and up that have no swim experience.

Many parents do not feel equipped to teach their own child because they are not confident swimmers themselves or might believe their child won't listen to them as an instructor. I myself fell into the second group until just last year! I'm here to tell you that YES, YOU CAN!

If you follow my guide, you should be able to teach your child to swim independently in about 12 lessons. Some kiddos may take longer or shorter to catch on depending on multiple factors such as fears, confidence and comfort in the pool. Remember, consistency is key.

Bright Colors: The Science Behind Visibility in Water When you think about safety in water, the focus often shifts to skills and supervision. However, one critical component often goes unnoticed: the visibility of swimwear. The science of color visibility in water is a fascinating blend of optics and psychology that plays a vital role in enhancing child safety. Water tends to make children disappear, with blues and whites being the first to lose their visibility under the surface. Bright, contrasting colors like neon greens, yellows, oranges and pinks remain vibrant and easily perceptible even at depths or in crowded swimming areas. These colors work effectively because they're situated at the higher energy end of the visible spectrum, making them detectable against different water backgrounds. The psychology of color impacts how quickly and easily our brains can interpret what we see. Bright colors immediately draw the eye, signaling a prompt response. This becomes crucial in environments like beaches or public pools, where quick identification can be the decisive factor between a relaxing day out and a safety concern. By choosing the right hues, we can create a vivid, defined silhouette against the constant movement of water, ensuring that children remain clearly visible to parents and lifeguards at all times. Understanding the principles of color science allows parents to make informed choices, emphasizing safety without sacrificing the joy and spontaneity of a day at the pool.
After wearing, simply hand rinse your swimsuit in cold water and air dry. After 3-5 wears, machine wash cold with like colors. Line dry.
Bright & Bold swimsuits are rated UPF 30+, which means they block 97% of the suns harmful rays.
